The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls (The Academy) is a worldclass educational platform for girls that is aimed at nurturing a new generation of dynamic women leaders. This residential boarding school is in Meyerton, Gauteng Province, with just over 300 students enrolled in Grades 8 -12. Grade 12. Students write the Independent Examination Board (I.E.B.) NSC Examination.

Minimum academic
requirements and
experience
The purpose of this position is to oversee the medical support of students through primary healthcare and practice. The Academy is a full boarding facility and the successful candidate will be required to work a 7-day shift and reside on campus when on duty. The candidate will be provided with accommodation as well as three meals by the Academy.
The requirements are as follows:
- Diploma in Nursing;
- 3- 5 years of experience as a professional nurse.
The following will serve as an added advantage:
- A Primary Health Care Qualification;
- Working with adolescent youth in a school or private clinic/ hospital/public health or any other related environment;
- A license to dispense medication;
- Experience in health promotion and health prevention.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate initial and periodic medical examinations for learners.
- Provide primary health care for learners on a day-to-day basis,including emergency management and first aid.
- Implement standards, practices, criteria and indicators for quality nursing (quality of practice).
- Practice nursing and health care in accordance with the laws and regulations relevant to nursing and health care.
- Maintain a constructive working relationship with nursing, learners and other stakeholders.
- Treat and monitor injuries that occur at the Academy to learners.
- Treat staff for ad hoc emergencies only.
- Provide periodic health screenings.
- Dispense and control medications as appropriate.
- Make referrals to other medical providers, as appropriate.
- Provide medical support and supervision, as appropriate, at off campus activities (e.g., sport outings, etc.)
- Maintain strict control of medical stock and equipment.
- Maintain complete health records for learners and prepare reports for trend analysis as appropriate.
