THANDULWAZI MATHS & SCIENCE ACADEMY
2026 Teacher Development Programme – ECD Facilitators
The Thandulwazi Maths and Science Academy, established in 2006, is a pioneering initiative by St Stithians College aimed at fostering educational advancement for both students and teachers in public schools. The Academy is structured around four core programmes: the Teacher Intern Programme; the Saturday School Programme for Grades 9 to 12; the Teacher Development Programme; and the Thandulwazi Academic Scholarship Programme at St Stithians College. Each of these initiatives delivers substantial educational impact and operates in close collaboration with St Stithians College.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced individuals who believe they possess the necessary skills and competencies to undertake these exciting contract facilitator roles within the 2026 Thandulwazi Teacher Development Programme, commencing on 1 February 2026.
The minimum requirements for these positions are:
- Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education / Family and Consumer Science / Psychology / Social Work / Sociology or a related field
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in the ECD space.
- Knowledge: Of educational and developmentally appropriate practices.
- Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills, competent interpersonal skills, and strong organisational skills
- Ability: To integrate Education Technology.
Preferred additional requirements:
- Knowledge and expertise in promoting growth and development in children for any of the developmental domains – language and literacy, health and physical development, approaches to learning, social emotional development, creative arts, science, mathematics
- Experience in conducting assessments
- Knowledge of programme quality rating scales
- Experience and/or education in adult learning
- Proof of registration with SACE supported by a sexual offender’s clearance certificate
- Proven experience in educational leadership or management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver dynamic training sessions.
- Foster an environment of learning and professional growth.
