Purpose of Role

The Facilities Maintenance Staff help keep the school building, gardens and grounds in excellent condition. They assist with repairs, ensure safety, support daily arrivals and dismissals as required, manage tools and equipment, and assist with ad-hoc operational tasks. They contribute to a professional, welcoming environment and participate in ongoing staff development.


Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Safety

  • Maintain the upkeep of the school building, gardens and grounds.
  • Report facilities maintenance issues to school leadership and assist with repairs where applicable.
  • Ensure premises are safe for students, staff and parents.

Operations & Support

  • Assist with welcoming students during daily arrivals and dismissals, as required by school leadership.
  • Manage tools and equipment, reporting damaged or lost items for fixing or replacement.
  • Assist with ad-hoc operational tasks, such as moving furniture, coordinating with maintenance and gardening suppliers, or setting up for events.

Communication & Development

  • Communicate professionally with school staff, parents and other stakeholders.
  • Participate actively in staff development opportunities as a SPARK Schools team member.
  • Maintain professional conduct at SPARK Schools events and with all stakeholders.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Relevant practical maintenance or facilities experience is desirable; no formal qualification specified in the provided information.

Experience

  • Experience in building maintenance or similar roles is preferred.
