Purpose of Role

The Associate Principal drives high scholar achievement, fosters a positive school culture for scholars and staff, and ensures operational efficiency. You will provide strong leadership, coaching and management to school staff and work with the Headmaster and Senior Leadership Team to shape the school’s vision and policies.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Shape the school’s vision, aims, and objectives with the Headmaster and SLT
  • Develop policies to achieve strategic goals

Academic Leadership

  • Oversee curriculum, assessment and teaching and learning strategies
  • Monitor progress, evaluate teaching methods, support staff development
  • Monitor NSC-aligned programs, using data to implement targeted interventions
  • Promote innovative practices (e.g., project-based learning, tech integration, global competencies)
  • Drive integration of SDGs into the curriculum; lead Matric Readiness and Exam Preparation

Pastoral & Scholar Culture

  • Lead pastoral care, wellbeing and behaviour management; implement individualised support plans
  • Foster a positive scholar culture aligned with CQ curriculum and SPARK values
  • Promote academic rigour, responsibility and social-emotional development; engage parents and community
  • Oversee the scholar support team to address academic, behavioural and social-emotional needs

Staff & School Operations

  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and professional development
  • Lead mid-managers to drive school implementation; monitor and evaluate performance
  • Ensure smooth school operations; manage resources and uphold policies
  • Maintain DBS/UMALUSI compliance and align stakeholders with procedures
  • deputise for the Headmaster when required

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • English language fluency
  • Completed B.Ed or PGCE; Honours or Master’s in Education preferred

Experience

  • 3–5 years of excellent classroom instruction in intermediate, senior or FET phase
  • Management experience in a school environment
