Purpose of Role

The role exists to deliver Social Sciences (History and Geography) and Life Orientation to GET phase learners (Grades 7–9) in line with CAPS, while supporting integration across the curriculum and contributing to the overall development of learners in a safe, inclusive, and faith-aligned setting.


Key Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Delivery
    • Teach Social Sciences (History and Geography) to GET phase learners (Grades 7–9) in accordance with the CAPS curriculum.
    • Deliver Life Orientation to GET phase learners (Grades 7–9), including personal development, citizenship, health, and careers education.
    • Prepare and implement CAPS-compliant schemes of work with regard to SBA, FAT and continuous assessment requirements.
  • Assessment & Records
    • Continuously evaluate learner performance and provide targeted feedback.
    • Maintain meticulous records in line with school protocols.
  • Collaboration & School Life
    • Collaborate with College leadership and the broader faculty to advance curriculum integration and holistic learner development.
    • Participate in assemblies, staff briefings, professional development programmes and extramural activities.
  • Policy Adherence
    • Adhere to school policies on learner discipline, pastoral care and safeguarding.

Minimum Requirements

  • Appropriate teaching qualification (e.g., BEd or PGCE) with specialisation in Social Sciences and/or Life Orientation.
  • Registration with the South African Council for Educators (SACE).
  • At least two years’ teaching experience in GET phase Social Sciences and/or Life Orientation.
  • Demonstrated ability to create an engaging, inclusive learning environment for Grades 7–9.
  • Alignment with the school’s Christian ethos and safeguarding measures.
