Purpose of Role
This role exists to deliver engaging piano education to Foundation Phase learners, support group music activities, and contribute to the daily music programme. The successful candidate will also promote Orff groups and assist with introductions to a second instrument where possible.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Programmes
- Deliver beginner piano instruction to young children
- Lead and support group music lessons
- Promote and organise Orff groups
Curriculum & Technology
- Work within the Foundation Phase music programme
- Utilise Google Workspace and Apple technology where appropriate
Compliance & Safeguarding
- Maintain SACE registration
- Hold or provide evidence of Police clearance, Child Protection Register clearance, and National Sexual Offenders Register clearance (or proof of application)
Collaboration & Culture
- Engage with colleagues to participate in school life and cross‑curricular activities
- Support a positive, creative learning environment for Foundation Phase students
Minimum Requirements
Education
- BMus education degree
Experience
- At least five years’ teaching experience
- Competent teaching beginner piano to young children
Competencies
- Ability to teach a second instrument (an advantage)
- Experience delivering group music lessons
- Competent in Google Workspace and Apple technology (an advantage)
- South African Professional registrations and clearances as listed (SACE, Police, Child Protection, NRSO)
