Purpose of Role
SPARK Schools teachers are central to scholar achievement. In this role you will maintain high expectations for classroom culture, scholar behaviour and academic growth. You will serve as a subject specialist, equipping scholars with content mastery and critical thinking tools for matric and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum Delivery
- Plan and deliver all lessons independently, in-person and via distance learning.
- Teach high-impact grades or core subjects aligned to SPARK’s standards.
- Deliver academic, clubs and enrichment sessions; participate in place-based education and curriculum enrichment activities.
- Utilise Project-Based Learning and data-driven differentiation to personalise learning.
Planning & Collaboration
- Lead grade-wide or subject-wide initiatives (e.g., moderation, data tracking).
- Design Individualised Behaviour and Learning Plans (IBLPs) and contribute to professional development sessions.
- Co-create lesson plans and materials; monitor resource creation and implementation.
Assessment & Scholar Progress
- Administer formative and termly assessments; analyse data to inform interventions.
- Plan academic support programmes for lower-performing scholars and enrichment for higher-performing scholars.
- Monitor progress through online program engagement in the Innovation HUB.
Character Development & Professionalism
- Lead CQ (Character Quotient) sessions and culture initiatives with staff and scholars.
- Uphold SPARK behaviour policies; promote an inclusive, diverse environment.
- Communicate effectively with families and colleagues; participate in events and meetings as required.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- B.Ed. or PGCE (Intermediate/Senior Phase). Newly qualified teachers are encouraged to apply.
Experience
- Recently qualified teachers or teachers with experience are encouraged to apply.
