Purpose of Role

The Personalised Learning Facilitator drives student achievement in the foundation phase by overseeing the Learning Lab, SPARK’s computer lab. They work with students in large and small groups, delivering literacy and maths interventions and supporting online learning with engaging, student-centred teaching.


Key Responsibilities

Learning Lab & Student Culture

  • Create a positive culture around online learning and small-group tutoring.
  • Maintain high behavioural expectations and use SPARK culture and behaviour management strategies.

Teaching & Programmes

  • Coach students on computer programs and ensure software meets learning needs.
  • Prepare and submit lesson plans for tutoring sessions.
  • Tutor small groups in literacy and maths; incorporate SPARK SEL curriculum.
  • Submit bi-weekly reports on ST Maths.

Collaboration & Resources

  • Collaborate with teachers and school administrators to create individualised learning plans.
  • Ensure Learning Lab resources are used responsibly; report damages and maintain asset lists.
  • Cover classrooms as needed and participate in staff development opportunities.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • Part-time study towards a B.Ed. or PGCE in the Foundation Phase (3rd or 4th year) with the aim to become a qualified teacher
  • Provisional SACE registration

Experience

  • Experience working with primary school-aged children
  • Basic computer skills; willingness to learn new technology
