Purpose of Role

The Personalised Learning Facilitator oversees the Learning Lab, supporting whole class, small group and individual tutoring in literacy and maths. They contribute to a culture of high engagement and rigorous learning using SPARK’s approach and SEL curriculum.

Key Responsibilities

Learning Lab Management

  • Create a positive culture around online learning and small group tutoring; maintain high behavioural expectations.
  • Coach students on computer programmes and ensure educational software meets needs.
  • Ensure Learning Lab resources are used responsibly and stored correctly; report damages.
  • Maintain an updated asset list of hardware in the Learning Lab.

Instruction & Planning

  • Create and submit lesson plans for tutoring sessions.
  • Tutor small groups in literacy and maths skills; bi-weekly reports on ST Maths.
  • Collaborate with teachers and school administrators to develop individualised learning plans.
  • Incorporate SPARK SEL curriculum and culture/behaviour management strategies.

Collaboration & Development

  • Participate in staff development and be prepared to cover other classes if needed.
  • Engage professionally at SPARK Schools events and with stakeholders.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Grade 12 Certificate.
  • Part-time studies towards a B.Ed. or PGCE in the Foundation Phase, in 3rd or 4th year, aiming to become a qualified teacher.
  • Provisional SACE registration.

Experience

  • Experience working with primary school-aged children.
  • Basic computer skills and willingness to learn new technology.

  • Fluent in English; clear criminal record.
