Purpose of the Role

The Head of School provides strategic leadership and management for the campus, shaping educational outcomes in line with Montessori principles. The role oversees school operations, curriculum delivery, staff development, and stakeholder engagement to support a safe, inspiring learning environment.


Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead and develop school-wide strategy in line with Montessori philosophy
  • Support governance and compliance with relevant laws and policies

Education & Curriculum Oversight

  • Ensure effective curriculum delivery and student progress
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional learning

Administration & Operations

  • Manage day-to-day school operations and resources
  • Oversee health, safety, and welfare of students and staff

People & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Lead staff development, performance management, and recruitment where applicable
  • Engage with parents, guardians, and the local community to promote the school and its values

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Relevant teaching or educational leadership qualification (as applicable in South Africa)

Experience

  • Prior leadership experience in an educational setting preferred

Competencies

  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team and to lead with clarity and empathy
  • Commitment to Montessori principles and learner-centred approaches
