Purpose of Role: Maths Teachers drive student achievement by maintaining high expectations for classroom culture, behaviour and academic growth. You will be a content specialist who benefits from ongoing professional development and contributes to SPARK’s culture of rigorous and engaging learning.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Planning
- Plan and deliver lessons from 7:45 to 3:30 daily, depending on grade level.
- Collaborate with grade partners to create engaging, rigorous learning experiences and personalised plans.
- Attend pre-service PD and weekly Monday PD sessions.
Assessment & Data
- Administer weekly and termly assessments and analyse data to track growth.
- Maintain a focus on student achievement and proficiency targets.
Behaviour & SEL
- Lead weekly Social Emotional Learning circles and implement SPARK’s SEL curriculum.
- Implement behaviour management strategies aligned with SPARK culture.
- Communicate professionally with colleagues, parents and stakeholders.
Community & Professionalism
- Participate in staff development, Saturday events and parent meetings.
- Represent SPARK with professional conduct at events and with stakeholders.
- Nurture a high-achieving environment and promote SPARK’s vision and mission.
- Follow Crisis Management policies and health and safety rules; submit data as required.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- B.Ed. or PGCE (Intermediate or Intermediate Senior Phase).
- Mathematics focus and competency.
- SAQA accreditation for non-South African qualifications; SACE certification.
Experience
- Recently qualified teachers are encouraged to apply; experienced teachers welcome.
