Position Title: Life Skills / Orientation (Grades 4–7) and Natural Sciences (Grades 4–7) Teacher
Location: St. Peter’s School Reporting to: Deputy Principal
Position Summary
St. Peter’s School invites applications from passionate and dedicated educators to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Life Skills / Orientation and Natural Sciences in the InterSen Phase. The role requires fostering learner growth in personal development, scientific inquiry, and critical thinking, while contributing to a stimulating and supportive school environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum Delivery: Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the national curriculum.
- Assessment and Evaluation: Design and administer formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a disciplined, inclusive, and inspiring classroom environment.
- Learner Support: Provide targeted support and intervention for learners requiring additional assistance.
- Communication: Maintain open communication with parents, colleagues, and school administration regarding learner progress.
- Professional Development: Participate in ongoing training to remain current with best practices in Life Skills and Natural Sciences education.
- Extracurricular Contribution: Support and participate in school events and activities. Ability to assist in sports coaching will be considered an added advantage.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field, with specialization in Life Skills / Orientation and/or Natural Sciences.
- Certification: Current registration with the South African Council for Educators (SACE) and valid Police clearance.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years teaching experience in the InterSen Phase.
- Language Proficiency: Excellent command of English (verbal and written).
- Technology Proficiency: Computer literate, with the ability to integrate educational technology into teaching and administration.
Skills and Competencies
- Pedagogical Expertise: Strong knowledge of teaching methodologies in Life Skills and Natural Sciences.
- Classroom Management: Ability to manage diverse classrooms effectively.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build positive relationships with learners, parents, and colleagues.
- Adaptability: Flexible and responsive to the needs of a dynamic school environment.
