The Brand Accountant reports to the Brand Financial Manager and is responsible for producing accurate and timely financial results. This role sits at the heart of our finance function, ensuring integrity in financial records and supporting strategic budgeting for schools across the division.
Purpose of Role
To oversee accounting activities for the brand, ensuring month-end processes, reconciliations, budgeting, and financial analysis are completed accurately and on time. The role supports principals and bursars to understand monthly transactions and financial performance.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Reporting
- Month-end processing and recording of financial transactions
- Prepare journals and complete financial accounts to Trial Balance each month
- Produce Trial Balance for management and ensure all accounts are reconciled monthly
- Review month-end checklists and maintain month-end documentation
- Internal controls and policy compliance
Budgeting & Analysis
- Assist with School Budget Preparation and planning (Revenue, Discounts, Opex and Capex)
- Contribute to budgets and forecasts with Principals and Campus Bursars
- Analyse financial results and variances; report to principals monthly
- Drive focus on achieving annual budgeted EBIT and monitor profitability trends
- Review income and expenditure; investigate misallocations and resolve promptly
Accounts Payable & Communications
- Manage payment processes, creditors, and service delivery by Group Shared Services
- Maintain two-way communication between Brand Finance, Group Shared Services and Group
- Handle queries professionally and resolve them in a timely manner
Internal Controls
- Maintain effective internal controls to prevent fraud and safeguard assets
- Adhere to finance policies and procedures
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Minimum – BCom (Accounting)
- SAIPA qualification and articles preferable
Experience
- 3–5 years’ experience including month-end processing, reconciliations, and budgets vs actuals variance analysis
Start date: 01 June 2026
