COLLEGE INTERNSHIP PHYSICAL SCIENCE/MATHEMATICS

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop as a motivated and competent teacher through practical experience and mentorship, with a particular focus on Physical Science and/or Mathematics. They will gain exposure to best practices in teaching, co-curricular activities, and school operations, while completing their academic programme and contributing meaningfully to the life of the school. The successful candidate will receive funding for tuition at the University of South Africa (UNISA) or similar rates.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Support teaching and learning by assisting in Physical Sciences and/or Mathematics lessons, participating in classroom activities, and gradually taking on supervised teaching responsibilities, including lesson planning and assessment.
  • Engage actively in the broader school community through involvement in sports, cultural, leadership, and service programmes that promote holistic development.
  • Participate in structured mentorship and professional development, including weekly sessions with experienced educators and access to workshops that enhance teaching practice.
  • Balance academic progress with school responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and commitment by adhering to school policies, contributing to service initiatives, completing qualification requirements on time, and participating in regular performance evaluations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • First year enrolled in a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) or Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) programme.
  • Registered for South African Certificate of Education (SACE).
  • Strong motivation to enter the teaching profession.
  • Basic technology skills for classroom and administrative use.
  • Willingness to coach sports and engage in co-curricular activities.
  • Commitment to school life and values.
