IEB English Teacher (Senior & FET Phase)

Key Requirements

• Educational Qualification: A relevant Bachelor of Education (BEd) or a first degree with a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).
• Registration: Must be a registered member of the South African Council for Educators (SACE).
• Subject Expertise: Proven academic competence and successful teaching experience in English (Home Language) in the Senior and FET Phase (Grades 8-12). Must have a strong working knowledge of the English Home Language curriculum, assessment standards, and moderation protocols. IEB Experience preferred
• Work Arrangement: Must be able to commit to a full-time, in-person work schedule.
• Logistics: Must have own reliable transport arrangements to and from the school.
• Technological Competency: Strong technological literacy for integrating digital tools into teaching and administration.
• Relocation: Please note: The school does not contribute to relocation costs.

The Role and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a stimulating and challenging learning environment. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Teaching Excellence: Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, high-quality lessons in IEB English (Senior and FET Phase).
• Curriculum & Assessment: Mastery of the IEB English curriculum, accurately setting, marking, and moderating assessments in line with IEB standards.
• Pastoral Care & Mentorship: Actively participate in the school’s mentorship and pastoral care programmes, supporting the holistic development and well-being of learners.
• Extra-Mural Duties: Willingness to take on and run extra-mural duties (sport, culture, or clubs) as part of the school’s co-curricular programme.
• Learner Support: Provide differentiated instruction and support to meet the diverse needs of learners.
• Professional Development: Actively engage in departmental meetings, professional development, and collaborative planning.
