Purpose of Role
The Maternity Cover English Teacher supports the English department in delivering engaging, standards-aligned lessons for the College phase. The role requires a dedicated educator who can maintain continuity of learning and uphold our school’s academic standards during the maternity cover period.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Curriculum
- Deliver well-planned English lessons in line with the curriculum.
- Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistency and high-quality teaching.
Student Support & Behaviour
- Foster a positive learning environment and support student wellbeing.
- Maintain orderly classroom management and clear routines.
Administration
- Keep accurate records of assessment, attendance and pupil progress as required.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Relevant teaching qualification in English or equivalent teaching degree.
Experience
- Previous teaching experience in English, preferably in a secondary/college setting.
Competencies
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Adaptability and a collaborative approach to teaching.
- Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.
