Part-Time Sanatorium Sister
We are seeking a qualified and compassionate Part-Time Sanatorium Sister to join our team. The role involves working one day per week during Terms 1, 3, and 4, and two days per week during Rugby Season (Term 2), which would include a full day on Saturday.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend to daily clinics (administer prescribed medication, assess and treat acute illness, injuries and wounds);
- Arrange and assist with doctors’ clinics at the Sanatorium;
- Attend to emergencies;
- Treat and refer pupils with chronic or acute illnesses and injuries;
- Record visits and treatment of pupils;
- Book appointments for doctors, specialists, biokineticists etc.;
- Arrange transport to medical appointments;
- Communicate and interact effectively with parents;
- Manage pupils’ scripts with the pharmacy;
- Manage impact concussion testing and follow-up;
- Arrange first aid for all sports when required, as well as being present at the fields for all rugby fixtures;
- Assist with school insurance claims and processing of related accounts;
- Ordering and stock control.
Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- professional/registered nurse with the South African Nursing Council;
- experience working in a boarding school environment would be an advantage;
- valid driver’s licence;
- dispensing licence (preferred);
- ability to work flexible hours, weekends as well as day/night shift;
- proactive, empathetic and trustworthy;
- computer literate, working knowledge of MS Office and Outlook;
- passionate about the wellbeing of boys;
- ability to work cooperatively in a team;
- excellent interpersonal skills.
