Herschel Girls Preparatory School seeks to appoint a
PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND SPORT TEACHER
to commence duties in January 2026
Herschel Girls School is looking for an innovative and progressive sports teacher who seeks the opportunity to be part of a dynamic and excellent staff and school. Herschel holds Physical Education and sport in high regard and strives to provide our pupils with opportunities to develop and succeed at the highest level, whilst cultivating a culture of participation and enjoyment in lifelong physical activity.
The successful applicant will:
- Have a relevant teaching/Physical Education qualification (BEd/PGCE/BSc in Movement Education).
- Demonstrate a passion and a willingness to teach Physical Education and sport from Grade R – 7.
- Have the ability to motivate pupils and coaches with a range of abilities and skills.
- Demonstrate excellent administrative, communication and organisational skills.
- Have experience or expertise in at least one of the following codes: hockey, netball, swimming, water polo, tennis, or cross-country and be willing to be a part of the extensive extra-curricular sport programme at the school, which includes travel and weekend activities.
- Maintain and encourage a love for physical activity through participation.
- Be open to ongoing personal and professional development to support change.
- Have a healthy self-awareness and a well-developed sense of duty of care towards pupils and colleagues.
- Hold at heart the school’s tagline of “leading the education of girls into a future of limitless possibilities” for oneself and for the pupils in one’s care.
- Be fully committed to the School’s transformation, equity, and belonging strategic objectives in support of an equitable and safe school environment for all.
- Be supportive of the Christian Anglican ethos of the School.
