Purpose of Role

The Assistant Principal drives student achievement by providing instructional coaching and professional development. They support teachers, blended learning facilitators, and PE coaches, and help sustain SPARK Schools’ culture of rigorous, engaging learning.


Key Responsibilities

Professional Development & Coaching

  • Coach instructional staff to meet individual growth goals and lead weekly professional development sessions.
  • Arrange targeted growth opportunities and monitor progress through regular observations and review meetings.

Instructional Leadership

  • Set high expectations for teaching across all content areas.
  • Implement the network curriculum and online Learning Lab offerings aligned to the national curriculum.
  • Lead assessment cycles, analyse data, and identify areas for targeted instruction.

Team & Policy Management

  • Collaborate with the leadership team on staff management and termly evaluations.
  • Participate in the selection and onboarding of instructional staff.
  • Share network policies with Parents, Students, Staff and community; implement disciplinary procedures.

Culture & Professionalism

  • Contribute to SPARK’s culture and participate in staff development opportunities.
  • Maintain professional conduct at all SPARK events and stakeholder interactions.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • Completed B.Ed or PGCE
  • SACE registration

Experience

  • English language fluency; clear criminal record.
  • Experience with primary school-aged children and at least 2 years of excellent classroom instruction.
  • Experience leading a team and knowledge of labour laws.

Remuneration & Benefits

  • R26,724.00 CTC per month.
