Purpose of Role
To drive student achievement by maintaining high expectations for classroom culture, behaviour and academic growth. You will receive ongoing professional development and work as part of a team to deliver rigorous, engaging learning experiences for our scholars.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Curriculum
- Plan and deliver lessons in English, Social Science and Personal and Social Well-being, depending on grade and timetable.
- Provide instruction across subjects with engaging lesson plans and resources.
- Lead weekly SEL circles and implement SPARK’s Social Emotional Learning curriculum.
Collaboration & Assessment
- Collaborate with grade level and content area partners to create rigorous learning experiences and individualised behaviour and learning plans, both face-to-face and online.
- Administer and mark weekly and termly assessments; analyse data to track student growth.
- Submit student results data when required and communicate progress professionally with stakeholders.
Professionalism & Engagement
- Attend pre-service and weekly professional development; participate in training interventions.
- Contribute to a high-achieving work environment where students feel valued and supported.
- Attend Saturday events and parent community meetings; adhere to child protection, anti-bullying and health and safety policies.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- B.Ed. degree or PGCE (Intermediate/Senior Phase). Recently qualified teachers are encouraged to apply.
- Certification through the South African Council of Educators (SACE).
- SAQA accreditation for non-South African qualifications.
Experience
- Recently qualified teachers or teachers with experience are encouraged to apply.
