Purpose of Role
The Maths Teacher drives student achievement by maintaining high expectations for classroom culture, behaviour and academic growth. You will be a content specialist, receiving ongoing professional development to support your past experience and needs. You will contribute to SPARK Schools’ culture of rigorous, engaging learning experiences for our scholars under the PR1ME Maths curriculum.
Key Responsibilities
Planning & Delivery
- Plan and deliver lessons from 7:45–3:30 pm daily, according to grade level and timetable.
- Prepare engaging, rigorous learning experiences in maths.
Assessment & Data
- Administer weekly and termly assessments; analyse data to drive student growth.
- Track progress and adjust instruction to reach proficiency targets.
Behaviour & SEL
- Lead weekly Social Emotional Learning circles and implement SPARK SEL curriculum.
- Utilise SPARK culture and behaviour management strategies, communicating professionally with families.
Collaboration & Professional Development
- Attend pre-service and weekly professional development sessions.
- Collaborate with grade and content teams; participate in staff development and family engagement activities.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- B.Ed. or PGCE (Intermediate or Intermediate Senior Phase)
- Mathematics focus and competency
- SAQA accreditation; SACE registration
Experience
- Recently qualified teachers are encouraged to apply; experienced teachers welcome.
