Primary School Pupil Counsellor (part-time)

Applications are invited for the following position:

Primary School Pupil Counsellor (part-time)

to commence duties in: Term 1 of 2026

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide counselling services to pupils in the Primary School (Grade RR-6).
  • Engage with parents to ensure pupils’ progress through proper support and interventions.
  • Be approachable to pupils through constant exposure.
  • Assist with crisis management for pupils in need of support.
  • Work closely with HODs to conduct workshops / webinars for pupils, teachers, and parents as needed.

Required qualifications, competencies and experience:

  • Registered with SACSSP as a Social Worker, or HPCSA registration.
  • Relevant Masters Degree in Counselling or Educational Psychology.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience and knowledge of the legislation pertaining to social work services.
  • Proficiency in computer literacy.
  • A Police Clearance certificate will be required.
  • Be passionate about education and working with children.
  • Strong inter-personal skills and ethical principles.
  • Ability to use psychological models and practices to enhance the emotional skills of pupils.
  • Proven organisational and administration skills.
  • Knowledge of latest teaching trends.

Advantageous:

  • ECD qualification.
  • Aftercare experience in Independent Schools would be an advantage.
  • Experience using the Google Suite would be an advantage.
