About the Role
Ubuntu is seeking a qualified, passionate, and nurturing Early Childhood Development (ECD) Teacher to join our team. The teacher will lead a classroom within the 2s, 3s, or 4s program using a play-based, emergent curriculum that values exploration, relationships, and curiosity. The ideal candidate will foster an inclusive, stimulating environment that supports each child’s holistic growth and learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and facilitate daily learning experiences guided by play-based and emergent curriculum principles.
- Observe, assess, and document children’s developmental progress using Ubuntu’s ECD framework and CAPS-aligned standards.
- Create a nurturing and engaging environment that promotes cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
- Build positive relationships with parents and caregivers through regular communication and engagement.
- Collaborate with the ECD team to plan, reflect, and continuously improve classroom practice.
- Ensure compliance with DSD and SACE professional standards and contribute to Ubuntu’s quality assurance processes.
Minimum Requirements:
- ECD Level 5 qualification or higher (Higher Certificate, Diploma, or B.Ed Foundation Phase).
- SACE registration (or proof of registration in progress).
- Minimum of two years’ experience teaching in an early learning environment.
- Strong understanding of early childhood development and play-based learning approaches.
- Effective communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills.
