Purpose of Role

The Maternity Cover English Teacher supports the English department in delivering engaging, standards-aligned lessons for the College phase. The role requires a dedicated educator who can maintain continuity of learning and uphold our school’s academic standards during the maternity cover period.


Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Curriculum

  • Deliver well-planned English lessons in line with the curriculum.
  • Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistency and high-quality teaching.

Student Support & Behaviour

  • Foster a positive learning environment and support student wellbeing.
  • Maintain orderly classroom management and clear routines.

Administration

  • Keep accurate records of assessment, attendance and pupil progress as required.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Relevant teaching qualification in English or equivalent teaching degree.

Experience

  • Previous teaching experience in English, preferably in a secondary/college setting.

Competencies

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Adaptability and a collaborative approach to teaching.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.
