VACANCY: High School Teacher: Afrikaans First Additional Language

Constantia, Cape Town

Constantia Waldorf, an independent school located on the beautiful slopes of the Constantia mountains, is seeking a skilled and passionate Afrikaans First Additional Language teacher with experience in the CAPS curriculum. The ideal candidate will inspire the joy of learning through Waldorf pedagogy, embrace and develop critical thinking, preparing students for success in their DBE (WCED) exams.
Other duties include, but are not limited to, interfacing with parents and engaging in ongoing Waldorf teacher training.

The successful applicant will be expected to:

  • Possess a proven academic record and appropriate professional qualification and experience.
  • Proven experience in teaching the CAPS curriculum.
  • Have taught Afrikaans FAL at Grade 8-12 level.
  • Matric marking would be an advantage.
  • Have a current SACE accreditation.
  • Commit to ongoing Waldorf teacher training.
  • Have a passion for teaching and nurturing a love for the Afrikaans language with excellent subject knowledge.
  • Be innovative in the use of technology to enhance learning and teaching and use a variety of pedagogical methods.
  • Be actively involved in the school’s co-curricular and Waldorf extra mural programmes.
  • Have the ability to build and nurture healthy relationships with students, parents, and staff.
  • Have well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Work collaboratively within the academic team in search of pedagogical excellence.
