Oakley House School Support Unit is seeking an Educational Psychologist Intern for 2027. This opportunity is open to Master of Educational Psychology students in their final year who meet the requirements. The internship runs for one year, full-time, from January 2027 to December 2027.

The Intern supports the multidisciplinary team by conducting educational psychological assessments, providing counselling to students, staff and parents, and collaborating to design personalised support plans. The role offers hands-on learning and professional growth within a supportive environment.
Assessments
- Conduct Educational Psychological Assessments
Counselling
- Render one-on-one counselling to students, staff and parents to address social, emotional and academic concerns, including career and subject guidance
- Conduct group counselling sessions to facilitate discussion and life skills
Collaboration & Documentation
- Liaise with teachers and the multidisciplinary team to develop tailored support strategies
- Maintain detailed records of counselling sessions, meetings and outcomes, ensuring ethical standards and confidentiality
Professional Development
- Participate in workshops and collaborative meetings with supervisors
Education
- Be in the final year of your Educational Psychology Master’s degree from an accredited South African tertiary institution
Experience
- Registered with the HPCSA as a Psychological Intern
- Previous experience with children or adolescents in educational settings is an advantage
Competencies
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Interpersonal skills with a compassionate approach
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
- Proficient report writing and confidentiality
- Understanding of ethical and legal considerations in psychology
- Openness to feedback and commitment to development
