We are seeking a gentle yet confident Pre-Prep teacher who is creative and committed to creating a safe and stimulating space where children can grow and thrive. Purpose of Role
To nurture, guide and teach young children aged 2–5 in a structured Pre-Prep environment, delivering age-appropriate, play-based learning that supports developmental milestones and fosters a love of learning.
Key Responsibilities
Administration
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records and documentation as required by the school and regulatory standards.
- Support school events and responsibilities that may fall outside regular hours.
Classroom & Curriculum
- Plan and facilitate engaging, age-appropriate, play-based learning activities (music, movement, storytelling, obstacle courses, arts and crafts).
- Manage the classroom effectively with a nurturing, patient approach suitable for very young children.
- Follow and implement instructions clearly and consistently.
Child Safety & Relationships
- Demonstrate a clear commitment to child protection and maintain a positive, warm communication style with parents and colleagues.
- Support the school ethos and values, building a collaborative team environment.
- Maintain a positive attitude and strong problem-solving abilities.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Bachelor of Education (BEd) Foundation Phase and/or a recognised Early Childhood Development qualification; SACE registration is required.
Experience
- Minimum of 3–5 years teaching children aged 2–5, preferably in a Pre-Prep or ECD programme.
Competencies
- Strong understanding of early childhood development, particularly for 2–3-year-olds.
- Knowledge of developmental milestones and age-appropriate expectations for 2–3-year-olds.
- Nurturing, caring, patient, and passionate about very young children.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills; ability to engage clearly with parents.
- Loyal and supportive of school leadership; values-aligned with the school ethos.
- Collaborative team player with outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication.
- Willingness to support events outside normal hours; First Aid training or willingness to complete within a few months.
- A clear criminal record and compliance with child protection regulations.
