Purpose of Role

The Foundation Phase Maths Teacher drives student achievement by upholding high expectations for classroom culture, behaviour and academic growth. You will specialise in Foundation Phase Maths, receive ongoing professional development, and contribute to a culture of rigorous, engaging learning for our scholars.


Key Responsibilities

Planning & Delivery

  • Plan and deliver engaging maths lessons for Foundation Phase learners
  • Prepare and use varied resources and assessment tools

Collaboration & Intervention

  • Collaborate with grade-level and subject partners to create rigorous learning experiences
  • Develop individualised behaviour and learning plans as needed
  • Lead weekly SEL circles and implement SPARK’s Social Emotional Learning curriculum

Assessment & Data

  • Administer weekly and termly assessments and analyse data to track student progress
  • Submit student results data when required

Culture & Professionalism

  • Adhere to SPARK culture and behaviour management strategies
  • Maintain professional communication with colleagues, parents and stakeholders
  • Attend pre-service and weekly professional development, Saturday events and parent meetings
  • Support a high achieving environment where students feel valued and supported

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • B.Ed. or PGCE (Foundation Phase) – recently qualified teachers are encouraged to apply

Experience

  • Certification through the South African Council of Educators (SACE)
  • SAQA accreditation for non-South African qualifications (if applicable)
  • English language fluency
