Purpose of Role
Maths teachers drive student achievement by maintaining high expectations for classroom culture, behaviour, and academic growth. You are a content specialist who collaborates with colleagues, participates in ongoing professional development, and helps deliver SPARK’s rigorous, engaging curriculum.
Key Responsibilities
- Lesson Delivery & Planning — Plan and deliver lessons from 7:45–3:30 (times may vary by grade); prepare content and adapt to timetable.
- Collaboration & Individualised Support — Work with grade level and content partners to create engaging learning experiences and individualised behaviour and learning plans.
- Assessment & Data — Administer weekly and termly assessments; analyse data to track student growth.
- Student Wellbeing & SEL — Lead weekly Social Emotional Learning circles and implement SPARK SEL curriculum; manage behaviour per SPARK culture guidelines.
- Communication & Professionalism — Communicate professionally with colleagues, parents and stakeholders; participate in staff development and community events; model professional conduct at all SPARK events.
- Culture & Mission — Promote SPARK’s mission and values; support a high-achieving environment; implement crisis management and health and safety policies as required.
Minimum Requirements
Education
– B.Ed. or PGCE (Intermediate or Intermediate Senior Phase) with Mathematics focus
– Certification with the South African Council of Educators (SACE); SAQA accreditation for non-South African equivalents
Experience
– Recently qualified teachers are encouraged to apply; experience welcomed
Competencies
– Fluency in English
– Clean criminal record
