Purpose of Role

To drive student achievement by maintaining high expectations for classroom culture, behaviour and academic growth. As a maths specialist, you’ll deliver engaging lessons, participate in ongoing professional development and support a culture of high performance across SPARK learners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teaching & Planning
    • Plan and deliver maths lessons from 7:45 to 3:30 daily, aligned to grade level timetables.
    • Collaborate with grade level and content area partners to create rigorous, engaging learning experiences and individualised behaviour/learning plans.
    • Attend pre-service professional development and weekly Monday PD sessions.
  • Assessment & Data
    • Administer weekly and termly assessments to track progress and analyse data for student growth.
    • Maintain a focus on student achievement and support learners to meet proficiency targets.
  • Culture & Wellbeing
    • Lead weekly SEL circles and apply SPARK’s Social Emotional Learning curriculum.
    • Implement SPARK culture and behaviour management strategies; communicate professionally with stakeholders.
    • Participate in staff development, Saturday events and parent meetings; model professional conduct at all SPARK events.
  • Compliance & Growth
    • Adhere to child protection, anti-bullying and health & safety policies.
    • Submit student results data as required and contribute to a high‑achieving work environment.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • B.Ed. degree or PGCE (Intermediate or Intermediate Senior Phase) with Mathematics focus.
  • Certification with the South African Council of Educators (SACE).
  • SAQA accreditation for non-South African qualifications (if applicable).

Experience

  • Recently qualified teachers are encouraged to apply; experienced teachers welcome.
