SPARK Schools is looking for a Lunch & Aftercare Supervisor to join our Western Cape team at SPARK Blue Downs. This role focuses on supervising lunch, break, and aftercare to support student achievement, health, safety, and engaging learning experiences.

Purpose of Role

The Supervisor oversees student culture and safety during lunch, break, and aftercare. They ensure healthy eating, manage activities, and maintain a constructive atmosphere that supports learning and wellbeing for scholars.


Key Responsibilities

Supervision & Safety

  • Supervise lunch and break periods during the instructional day.
  • Enforce SPARK’s healthy food scheme by checking scholar lunches.
  • Maintain safety and follow network procedures for dismissal and late pick-up during aftercare.

Aftercare Programming

  • Supervise a class during aftercare, including homework support if needed and structured activities.
  • Plan engaging enrichment experiences for the longer aftercare session on Monday afternoons.
  • Ensure resources are used responsibly and effectively.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Communicate professionally with parents and line managers about incidents or concerns during aftercare.
  • Collaborate with school leaders and staff as required.

Administrative & Other Duties

  • Assist with ad hoc tasks, such as facilitating in the Learning Lab, covering for absent staff, or setting up for events.
  • Participate in staff development and uphold professional conduct at SPARK events and with stakeholders.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Grade 12 certificate
  • Clear criminal record
  • Currently studying towards a First Year B.Ed is preferred

Experience

  • English language fluency
  • Previous experience managing or working with primary school-aged children
