Purpose of Role
The Assistant Teacher co-plans and co-teaches lessons under mentor guidance, supports scholar achievement, and fosters a positive learning environment. The role includes instructional delivery, data-informed planning, and collaboration with teachers to implement SPARK’s pedagogy and culture.
Key Responsibilities
Plan & Teach
- Co-plan and co-teach both in-person and distance learning lessons
- Lead and facilitate intervention and acceleration sessions
- Plan and teach select lessons for practice and feedback
Assessment & Data
- Support assessments and mark small tasks or homework
- Track scholar data and ensure Personalised Learning Plans are on track
- Submit and analyse scholar data to monitor growth and implement data-driven interventions
Enrichment & Support
- Facilitate academic, clubs, and enrichment lessons aligned to the curriculum
- Participate in place-based education and SPARK curriculum enrichment activities
- Assist with marking, data tracking of assessments, and exams
- Facilitate coding and robotics lessons
- Provide after-school supervision and ensure resources are used effectively
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Fluent in English
- Provisional SACE registration
- Part-time study towards a B.Ed. or PGCE (3rd or 4th Year)
- Police clearance certificate
Experience
- Previous experience with primary school-aged children
- Basic computer skills and willingness to learn new technology
