Purpose of Role
To drive student achievement in Mathematics and Mathematical Literacy by maintaining high expectations for classroom culture, behaviour, and academic growth. The role involves delivering engaging lessons, supporting diverse learners, and contributing to an integrated inquiry-based curriculum across SPARK SP and FET Phases.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Curriculum
- Plan, teach, and co-teach face-to-face and distance lessons; deliver academic and clubs sessions.
- Collaborate with grade-level and content-area partners to design rigorous, engaging learning experiences.
- Develop and implement high-quality, individualised learning and behaviour plans for scholars.
- Deliver and assess formative and termly assessments; analyse data to drive student growth.
Student Support & Wellbeing
- Lead social and emotional development through CQ sessions and reflections.
- Plan and monitor programmes to support lower performing scholars and extend high performers.
- Engage in place-based education and career/tertiary pathways education where required.
- Communicate professionally with colleagues, parents, and stakeholders; uphold SPARK culture and behaviour management strategies.
Professional Development & Compliance
- Participate in all scheduled professional development sessions.
- Adhere to child protection, anti-bullying, and health and safety policies.
- Attend Saturday events and parent community meetings; provide required student results data.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- English language fluency
- Completed B.Ed or PGCE in Mathematics/Mathematical Literacy (Senior FET Phase)
Experience
- 2–3 years of experience in a high school context
- SACE registration
- Clean/satisfactory criminal record
