Purpose of Role

The Senior Phase English Home Language Educator acts as a content specialist in English language and literacy, driving high expectations for classroom culture, student behaviour and academic growth. You will contribute to an integrated, inquiry‑based curriculum and support scholars across the Senior Phase to achieve their matriculation goals.


Key Responsibilities

Planning & Teaching

  • Plan, teach and co‑teach face‑to‑face and distance lessons; deliver academic and clubs sessions.
  • Collaborate with grade level and content partners to design rigorous, engaging learning experiences.

Assessment & Data

  • Develop and administer formative and termly assessments; analyse data to track student progress and drive growth.
  • Submit and interpret scholar data to plan interventions as needed.

Behaviour & Wellbeing

  • Lead social and emotional development through CQ sessions and reflections; implement SPARK behaviour management strategies.
  • Deliver programmes to support low performing scholars or extend high performing scholars; participate in place‑based education where required.

Communication & Community

  • Communicate professionally with colleagues, parents and stakeholders; attend events and parent community meetings as required.
  • Promote the SPARK vision and culture, contributing to a high‑achieving environment where all scholars feel valued.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • English language fluency; Completed B.Ed or PGCE degree in English Home Language.

Experience

  • Senior or FET Phase teaching experience; 2–3 years in high school preferred.
  • Registration with SACE; clear/criminal record.
