Purpose of Role
The Teaching Assistant supports a positive learning environment, helps uphold SPARK’s standards for behaviour and student well-being, and assists in delivering curriculum and enrichment activities. They contribute to personalised learning and classroom routines under the guidance of the lead teacher.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum Delivery
- Assist lead teachers with classroom routines, preparation, small group supervision, and setting up a conducive learning environment.
- Support lesson planning, teaching aids creation, and instructional activities.
- Observe lessons, help with assessments, and grade small tasks or homework.
- Engage in place-based education and enrichment activities.
Collaboration & Professional Development
- Participate in marking and data tracking for assessments and exams.
- Support Personalised Learning time and learning centres; engage in professional development and feedback sessions.
- Assist with Coding and Robotics lessons and related student activities.
Scholar Progress & Supervision
- Track scholar progress and ensure Personalised Learning Plans stay on track under supervision.
- Supervise lunch, breaks, and student movement; assist with school patrols and hygiene/safety checks.
Culture & Compliance
- Promote SPARK’s behaviour management strategies and uphold CQ (Character Quotient) standards.
- Foster an inclusive environment aligned with SPARK’s values; engage with families and stakeholders professionally.
- Adhere to safety, crisis management, child protection, anti-bullying, and health and safety policies.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Matric with NQF Level 4/5 and in progress to obtain B.Ed (SP/FET)
Experience
- Experience in a school environment is advantageous but not required from provided data
