Uplands is a forward-thinking, innovative co-educational independent school located on a 110-hectare estate in White River, Mpumalanga, that is committed to providing quality education to day- and boarding scholars from Grade 0000 to 12.

Uplands School is a member of the Independent Schools Association of Southern Africa (ISASA) and the Anglican Board of Education of South Africa (ABESA) and offers examinations set by the Independent Examination Board (IEB).

Uplands College wishes to appoint a passionate and dynamic Afrikaans (FAL) Teacher. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic educator who is committed to excellence in the classroom while also playing an active role in developing and promoting girls’ sport at the College. They must embrace technology in the classroom, have a positive attitude, and be an enthusiastic team player with strong interpersonal skills.

The successful applicant will:

  • Have a suitable professional teaching qualification, be SACE registered and have a minimum of 5 years’ teaching experience. ISASA and IEB experience will be advantageous.
  • Have sound knowledge and experience in teaching Afrikaans grammar and literature from Grade 8 to 12.
  • Be an innovative and creative educator who embraces technology in the classroom and is passionate about making a difference in pupils’ lives.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • It would be advantageous if you have a genuine passion for girls’ sport, with experience in coaching and/or managing sport at school level. As well as be able to coach and contribute meaningfully to the College’s girls’ netball programme.
  • Be willing to assist with practices, fixtures, tournaments and the organisation of sporting activities, including commitments outside normal school hours.
  • Participate fully in the College’s extra-curricular programme, school activities and general duties as required.

Commencement date: 01 January 2027
