This includes updating your cellphone number, which is essential for receiving important notifications regarding your grant status, payment updates, and any other relevant information.

How to Change cellphone number on SASSA application online

To update your cellphone number on your SASSA application, follow these simple steps:

  1. Visit the SASSA SRD Grant contact details page: https://srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/auth
  2. Enter your ID number: Carefully enter your 13-digit South African Identity Number (ID number) without any spaces.
  3. Enter your Application ID (App ID): If you have your Application ID, enter it in the designated field. If you don’t have your Application ID, follow the instructions below to retrieve it.
  4. Click “Submit”: Once you’ve entered your ID number and Application ID (if applicable), click the “Submit” button.
  5. Enter your email address and new cellphone number: After submitting your details, you’ll be prompted to enter your email address and the new cellphone number you wish to associate with your SASSA application.
  6. Click “Submit”: Once you’ve entered your email address and new cellphone number, click the “Submit” button again to finalize the change.
  7. Verify your new cellphone number: Upon submitting your request, you’ll receive an SMS containing a One-Time Password (OTP) code on your new cellphone number. Enter this code into the designated field on the SASSA website.
  8. Confirmation message: Once you’ve successfully verified your new cellphone number, you’ll receive a confirmation message informing you that your request has been processed.

Changing Your Cellphone Number Without an Application ID

If you don’t have your Application ID, you can still update your cellphone number by following these steps:

  1. Visit the SASSA SRD grant application status link: https://srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/status
  2. Enter your ID number: Enter your 13-digit ID number without any spaces.
  3. Enter the cellphone number used for your application: Enter the cellphone number you used when you applied for the SRD grant.
  4. Click “Submit”: Once you’ve entered your ID number and cellphone number, click the “Submit” button.
  5. Retrieve your Application ID: Your Application ID will be displayed on the screen. Note down this ID for future reference.
  6. Proceed with the steps outlined above: Once you have your Application ID, follow the steps mentioned earlier to update your cellphone number using your Application ID.

Additional Considerations

  • You can only submit one request to update your contact details in a 24-hour period.
  • Please ensure the new cellphone number you provide is active and can receive SMS messages.
  • It may take up to 14 business days for your new cellphone number to be reflected in your SASSA records.
