GDE admissions registration

Welcome to GDE, during the GDE online registration process, parents or legal guardians provide personal and educational information about the learner, including their name, age, grade level, school of choice, and supporting documents such as proof of residence and birth certificates. The GDE uses this information to allocate learners to schools according to their proximity to the school, the number of available spaces, and other relevant criteria. GDE admissions registration MEC of Education, Matome Chiloane, just announced the dates for Grade 1 and/or Grade 8 applications for Gauteng public school 2024 academic year to begin.

• Opening Dates: Thursday 15 June 2023, Time: 08h00
• Closing Dates: Friday 14 July 2023, Time: 23:59

Parents or legal guardians of learners who are starting school for the first time, changing schools, or moving to a new area need to register their children with the GDE within the above dates. Grade R learners are NOT automatically accepted in Grade 1 at the school where they are currently enrolled at.
